Women in Asset Management Summit 2021 – Transatlantic edition

We are excited to welcome you to our Transatlantic edition of Women in Asset Management Virtual Summit.

The global pandemic was the global story for 2020, but how firms recover from the pandemic and thrive in a post–pandemic world is expected to be the story for the investment management industry for 2021. Industry impact from the pandemic varied widely, with investment management as a whole sustaining less damage than some other sectors of the economy.

With the transitional period of Brexit at the forefront of peoples mind, this Transatlantic event will provide thought leadership and overviews from across Europe, the UK and across the pond. With the newly appointed President of the United States, many expect more of an ESG focus with climate change and environmental sustainability back at the top of the policy agenda. The asset management industry has endured a lot of challenges, during the pandemic which has led us to envisage our first virtual summit for the year with a transatlantic viewpoint. We will re-assess our adaptability to lead & work remotely whilst actioning DEI efforts globally.

ESG, talent and operations are three ongoing areas that investment management firms appear to be prioritizing to emerge into the post-pandemic environment stronger than they were at the start of 2020. Revenues for investment management firms remained largely intact, but the people, the operations, and the technology used by investment managers were impacted. At the same time, market volatility and price movement dramatically accelerated at the industry sector and asset class levels.

The diversity makeup of organizations is also likely to rise in importance in 2021, as more data becomes available to external stakeholders. Investment data will soon include diversity data not only about the composition of an investment management firm’s leadership, but also at the portfolio manager team level. This additional perspective is important because it allows investment management firms the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, which in turn may better enable the organization to attract and retain top talent. Diversity is expected to be a major topic for discussion as firms develop their talent objectives for 2021.
