SHARING KNOWLEDGE AND CELEBRATING THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF WOMEN IN ASSET MANAGEMENT
Following the success of the inaugural Women in Asset Management Awards last year, the event will be returning to New York on September 10th, 2020 – and nominations are now open! The second edition of the event is set to be bigger and better, with the arrival of the Women in Asset Management Summit that will take place during the day, ahead of the award ceremony.
The investment management industry is facing an increasingly competitive environment, with margin pressures, technological disruption, changing consumer preferences and duty to social responsibility; companies must not only deliver on financial performance, but also on what they do to support minority-led businesses and the employee in their organization.
Minority- and women-owned firms manage only 1.1% of $71.4 trillion in assets in the USA. It was highlighted in 2019 that African American and Latino employees each represent only 4% of investment consulting firm management staff in the US, while the 2018 Investment Consultant Survey found that only 27% of the firms have a policy to consider a minimum number of candidates reflective of gender and racial diversity for hiring new staff.
These percentages are incredibly low and clearly show the absence of progress within the industry. It’s fundamental to changing these statistics that visibility of diverse talent in the sector is increased, inspiring more individuals to consider careers in asset management. The Women in Asset Management Summit aims to tackle internal and external industry pressures by providing a platform for professionals and industry employers to come together and benefit from learning opportunities, thought-exchange and knowledge sharing.
Following the summit, the Women in Asset Management Awards will showcase the remarkable achievements of women in the field. We will award advocates, high-achievers and role models across 20 categories including; Bond Manager of the Year, Financial Skills Ambassador, ESG Investment, Global Equities, Young Leader and Woman of the Year.
You have until June 12th 2020 to submit your entries!
The winners will be announced at a black-tie Gala Dinner on September 10th 2020 at Pier Sixty, New York. Through the celebration of inspirational leaders at the awards, we are committed to building a community and increasing the opportunities for women at all levels, across all job functions.
